Where it all began…

Wow…wow…wow.

Tom from These United States shared this with me. Someone made a MySpace dedicated to my high school band (I suspect it was probably Joel, Tom’s brother and the bassist of said high school band).

So without further ado, I present to you…the one… the only…

BANE’S WISH.

Yes that is me in the window. You have to love the 1990s “sad band” pose.

You can relive all of our shortlived glory here: www.myspace.com/baneswish

(Be kind please…I was like 14 or 15 and it was the ’90s.)

What I remember is that as soon as Banes Wish fired up the amps and started Raging Against The Machine…and Spencer started in on his (quiet tasteful) drumming - my parents would be out the door. Probably to Redners…

Seriously, any hope for a reunion? We could book Bane’s Wish Mk. II and the Jesters of the Court…maybe at the Seemsville Inn.

That picture is awesome. Next album cover!

Have you seen the other ones? There’s a wealth of good photos to use.

Bane’s Wish was truly ahead of its time. I think that’s evident enough in the images and tracks on the myspace page. Joel has done a true service to us all by cataloging and preserving BW’s exploits. Perhaps a BW reunion is just what the world needs. After listening to the ultimate concept album, Backworlds Failing, on constant repeat (sans rewinds) on my cassette walkman for all these years, it would be nice to fire it up for a raging show.

P.S. Jesters of the Court - Laying the Damage Down…. possibly the greatest musical achievement of the 20th century.

Oh man. You guys look *so sad*. That’s really, really excellent.

Question: was the band named after Bane the Batman antagonist, or some other Bane?

Definitely Bane the Batman antagonist. I believe Joel was a fan at the time.

And you know you’re not in a cool band unless you look really sad in the photos. Of course, by that measure, we should have been bigger than Nirvana. Not really sure what happened there…

Dude - Jesters of the Court didn’t do “Laying the Damage Down”. That was Special Guest. Jesters of the Court did “The Phightin’ Phils” and “Chair”.

Sorry — it was ages ago, and my comment was 80% sarcasm. For these reasons and more, I beg forgiveness.
