Jeff and Marie’s Wedding June 5
I was also at a wedding last weekend. My friend Jeff got married in wine county in California, and it was lovely. Jeff asked me to play before the service, and during the processional, and I was happy to oblige. So that makes two weddings that I have not ruined.
When I arrived, Jeff and Marie where planning on pre-recorded music before the service. I volunteered to play some classical pieces before, similar to what I did at Darren’s wedding. They agreed, I think that is what they wanted the whole time, but didn’t want to ask. Anyway, Jeff told me to start about 20 minutes before the service. This was much earlier than I planned on, and I didn’t have 20 minutes worth of music planned, maybe about 15. So I just started repeating myself. Fortunately, I don’t think anyone was really listening to me. Then the wedding started about 5-10 minutes late. I started to get nervous when it looked like I was going to start on the third go round, but fortunately the best man came out and told me to get ready for the procession.
So the procession begins, and I am sitting behind the audience. They all stand up when the bride comes out. This is a lovely tradition, but unfortunately it left me unable to see when the bride reached the front (there was no altar). So I kept on playing until my mother looked back and gave me the cut sign.
All in all it was a lovely wedding and weekend. Jeff is one of my oldest friends, and I am very happy for him and Marie. Tommy has some other highlights over here.
Also, I will wear whatever damn hat that I want to wear, when I want to wear it.
