Something has gone wrong with our free CD sign up form. It was working fine the yesterday, but not today and I will be damned if I can figure it out. So, until it is fixed, please send an e-mail to charles [at] thecityveins [dot] com with your name and address and we will send you a CD. Just replace the [at] and [dot] with their corresponding symbols.

I just wanted to write a quick thank you to all the people who came out last night. It was nice to see that many people out on a Monday night, particularly after many of you also made it out to our last two Sunday shows. I think the success of a band, particularly when they are starting out, depends on the quality of its friends. If that is the case, then this band will do very well.
I am also pleased to announce that we don’t have any concerts in the District for about 2 months, which should give you all a nice break. Hopefully we will have some new material when we come back. I imagine that a lot of you are as sick of our songs as we are.

I can’t believe I’m actually kinda excited about playing a Monday night show. I wasn’t too into the idea when we booked this show to help out our friends The New Dumb, who are touring the East Coast from Boston. But the idea has grown on me. For one, what the hell else am I going to do on a Monday until football starts again? Second, we’re debuting a new awesome song tonight - “Scream”; and though the title implies a macabre death-metal cruncher, it’s actually quite lovely and melodic. But not too lovely, I mean we still give it some balls. But I digress. Third, I’m happy because of DCist putting our pic up real big on their site (see it here). Maybe I’m happiest about this one most of all; who doesn’t love a good ego-stroke?

Is anyone else having problems with our e-mail list? For example, I received one of our e-mails about the FettoFest finals today. This is of course absurd given that the e-mail was originally sent over a week ago. The e-mail came through in a timely fashion on most of my e-mail addresses, but not on one of them. So, is anyone else getting e-mails from us laughably late? Or getting the same e-mail numerous times? We want to pester you, but within reason, so please let me know if there are any problems.
Should you find yourself in the position of being extremely annoyed, come and vent your frustration tonight at Solly’s on U Street. If you happen to be so angry that you want to punch somebody, you should know that everything is Aaron’s fault.

As you can probably tell from Aaron’s twitter, we lost the FettoFest competition on Sunday. I am not taking the loss as hard as Aaron is, mainly because the festival takes place the day after I get my wisdom teeth out. While I am sure that I could play on pain killers, and it might even give me some rock cred, I wasn’t really looking forward to it. That said, it is always nice to win. Also, I promise to be a sore loser. WE WERE ROBBED! ROBBED I SAY!
I also wanted to add a few words about twitter. I have become a big fan of twitter. I mostly agree with this Slate article about it. Let me add that it is stupid on an individual level, something I think that Aaron has proved already, but fascinating in the aggregate. Just spend some time watching Twittervision to get an idea of what I mean. If I may indulge myself a little, and annoy the rest of my band, Twittervision makes me feel like Ozymandias from The Watchmen. Let me add that if you haven’t read The Watchmen, you really should.
